How NFEC Works
Fire Extinguisher Identity (FEID) lifecycle for vehicles, buildings, and the first-year nationwide capture.
🔐 What Is FEID?
FEID is a unique identity code given to every fire extinguisher in Nigeria. From manufacture/import through annual servicing to retirement, FEID tracks everything.
👉 No FEID = No Compliance.
🏛️ Who Gives Out FEID?
FEID is issued only through Fire Service–controlled channels to stop fake extinguishers and illegal vendors.
- Federal Fire Service Cooperative
- State Fire Service Cooperatives
✅ Why It Matters
- Stops fake and expired fire extinguishers.
- Ensures regular servicing and accountability.
- Protects lives, property, and boosts confidence in emergencies.
🚗 A. Vehicle Fire Extinguisher – How It Works
- Roadside Safety Check: FRSC patrol checks vehicles for extinguishers.
- Fire Service Capture: Officers check and capture extinguisher details; register driver for free training.
- SMS Notification: Driver receives training date, venue, and requirements.
- Training Day: Driver arrives with extinguisher.
- Practical Training: How to use, fire classes, emergency actions.
- Servicing & Refill: NFEC vendor refills, recharges, tests.
- FEID Activation & Verification: Vendor activates FEID; driver confirms and verifies instantly.
- Expired Cylinder? Vendor records and decommissions; driver guided to approved replacement.
🏢 B. Building & Office Fire Extinguishers
- FEID Purchase by Vendors: Approved vendors buy FEID from Federal or State Fire Service Cooperatives and upload client extinguisher details.
- Digital Monitoring: Dashboards send service reminders, compliance alerts, and enable Fire Service oversight.
- Annual FEID Renewal: Year 1 sticker applied; subsequent years use renewal tokens after servicing.
🇳🇬 First-Year Nationwide Capture
In the first year, all existing fire extinguishers are captured through joint patrols.
- Fire Service
- Federal Road Safety
- Registered servicing vendors
This creates Nigeria’s first national fire extinguisher database.
🛡️ NFEC Message
